Irene is a writer, director, curator, based in California. A recent graduate of Columbia University’s MA program in African American and African Diaspora Studies (2023) and Princeton University’s BA program in African American Studies (2020), she is currently a Ph.D candidate at U.C. Berkeley, with a research focus in African American Studies and Film Studies. Topical Interests range from contemporary Afro-surrealism, dystopia, and horror, to beloved comedy classics, and the fashionable stylings that mark each genre.

Most recent projects include writing, directing, producing, and acting in a feature length film, Superposition (2022-2024), curating an exhibition at Bill Hodges Gallery in Chelsea, NYC: “Black Aliveness,” and writing a series of film meditations and manuscripts.
